Shadow wasn’t her name but still that’s what she’d say
As her curtain would rise and her movie would play
The sun hit the line and we were out in the strange
She had this fear in her eyes and I was starting to pray
Oh I couldn’t wait
Oh I just couldn’t wait
When the night comes tumbling down
Oh you cannot be saved
Shadow wasn’t her name but it was all the same
As we breathed in and out and talked outer space
Drinking blood from her glass, I was drunk on her pain
We laid our bodies down and let our hands have their way
Oh I couldn’t wait
Oh I just couldn’t wait
When the night comes tumbling down
Oh you cannot be saved
I was talking to ghosts, she was singing to me
I took a drink from her mouth, she opened for me
Then the woods started howling and the wind blew the trees
We were apparitions, we turned into a dream
Oh I couldn’t wait
Oh I couldn’t wait
When the night comes tumbling down
Oh you cannot be saved
Fun, bright post-punk that emulates the bands I grew up with so well that I honestly had to check and make sure the album wasn't a re-release from 1984. So glad this came up in my recommended feed. modestwriggles
